What do you do as a consultant/coach?

Governance/Board consulting; Strategic Planning; Racial Equity/DEI initiatives; Organizational, coalition, and community Assessment; Team development; community organizing strategy, program evaluation

What is your approach?

My consulting approach is grounded in an intentional racial equity and liberatory lens, integrated into all aspects of the consultation. I tailor each engagement to the unique context, culture, constituency, and goals of the client, recognizing that no two organizations require the same approach. Throughout the consultancy, I work in close partnership with nonprofit clients at every stage—from initial assessment through implementation—co-creating strategies, processes, and solutions rather than imposing predefined models. Guided by a systemic perspective, I attend to the interconnected dynamics of governance, leadership, culture, and external environment, helping organizations surface root causes and leverage opportunities for transformative change. My work is also evidence-based, grounded in current research and a strong research-to-practice orientation that translates leading governance and organizational development insights into effective and actionable strategies. This collaborative, adaptive, and equity-centered approach supports sustainable outcomes that are both practical and aligned with the organization/coalition’s values and mission.

How has your experience/background contributed to your work?

My background as a consultant is rooted in a long history of movement organizing and leadership within progressive coalitions and organizations at the international, national, regional, and local levels. Through this work, I partnered with movement organizations across the United States and internationally to strengthen their capacity, support leadership development, and advance organizing strategies aligned with their values and goals. In doing so, I developed a deep understanding of how organizations build power, navigate complexity, and sustain impact over time. This experience provided the foundation for many of the skills I bring to my consulting today, including facilitation, strategic thinking and planning, governance decision-making, collaborative problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholders and contexts.
