What is your approach?
Lennette Abad is a facilitator, communications strategist, and creative partner who believes that trust, honesty, and a little bit of humor are the real foundations of great collaboration. She specializes in creating safe, open spaces for authentic conversation and creative problem-solving. She leads with patience, active listening, and curiosity to help leaders and teams move from guarded to grounded, and from stuck in the muck to clear thinking! Her approach honed over the last 8 years weaves mindfulness, meditation, and play into strategy sessions and communications planning. The result? Clearer ideas, confidence, and stronger teams.
How has your experience/background contributed to your work?
I’ve been in the world of communications for nonprofits since my college internship days back in 2009 where I migrated the content of an entire website for The Federation of American Scientists. From there I flowed to working with The Nature Conservancy in newsletter development and donor communications before leaving the nest in 2013 and starting my own company to serve clients in a way that felt more true to me.
Whether my clients are focused on community arts, the built environment, environmental stewardship, reproductive justice, or the whole gamut in between—I always focus on answering a few key questions. What key stories do I have to help staff translate so their stakeholders can see the value in the work? How can we create a cohesive look & feel for the organization that can be understood by its employees AND its target audience? How can we share the ways the organization is breathing life into its mission in real time?
Facilitating a safe space for sharing is imperative to get real answers. And we all know nonprofit teams are usually slow to trust so patience and persistence are key as well. It usually pays off in the end.
