Relevant to all three pillars (relationships, resistance, resilience) of RoadMap’s theory of change, below is an update from our wonderful practitioners Rebecca Mintz and Griffin Moore, who have been leading our Community of Praxis efforts with deep care. This project is helping RoadMap’s bench build practices and systems rooted in liberation, healing, and justice to more effectively support movement organizations.
From Rebecca Mintz and Griffin Moore:
We are now a full year into RoadMap’s Community of Praxis cycle! We have successfully gone through one round of our three cycle phases: An Evaluation phase that helped us name emerging areas of knowledge and skills that liberatory movements need from us as capacity builders (summer of 2025), a Learning phase where various RoadMap members offered sessions about these growing edges to help us increase our collective skillset as a network (late fall 2025), and a Contribution phase where we gathered and shared learnings and tools with movements, change makers, and the field of progressive capacity builders (spring 2026).
In this year’s Contribution phase, we are in the process of supporting three RoadMap members to share tools and resources back into the world:
- Itzy Menjivar and Richael Faithful offered a 2-part workshop series for practitioners and organizational leaders called “Tending to Organizational Grief.”
- Richael also shared their “Organizational Grief Model” out through RoadMap networks.
- Liza Dichter is in the process of developing an “Organizational Prep Kit,” a set of questions that social and economic justice groups can use for many different kinds of planning and preparation in these unpredictable times.
In retrospect, it feels so meaningful to share resources from our brilliant network about two critical topics that are so pressing at this time: processing grief and preparing in the face of uncertainty. These topics were first named in the Evaluation Phase, explored in the Learning phase, and then shared through the Contribution Phase. In years to come, we hope that this Praxis Cycle will continue to support us as a network to generate learnings about key topics that can help our movements thrive and succeed.
