In Solidarity with Palestine
If you have come to help me you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together ~ Lilla Watson
Our RoadMap team continues to experience rage, grief, and deep mourning over the genocide in Gaza and loss of life in Israel over the past several weeks that have resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians.
We wanted to share the depths of our broken hearts, raised fists, and solidarity for our Palestinian comrades who have taken to the streets in mass protest to call for a ceasefire and end to this genocidal war.
We also wanted to express our solidarity with our anti-Zionist Jewish comrades who have also taken to the streets and to the halls of Congress to make their voices heard.
RoadMap has always been and will continue to remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting movements, organizations, and leaders who are on the right side of history. For us, this means working in solidarity to end the occupation of Palestine as well as with Black, Indigenous, and global majority movements in their struggles to end all forms of oppression and settler colonialism.
It’s in these times when we have to find the courage to name and oppose the root causes of injustice wherever and whenever we see it. Only then will liberation and mutual independence be remotely possible.
We are clear that the complexity and pain in this latest round of violence is rooted in 75 years of Israeli occupation and apartheid of Palestine.
We are also equally clear that Islamophobia and anti-semitism are global weapons of war used to fuel right-wing propaganda, supremacist, nationalist and fascist movements. And that they must be dismantled and challenged wherever they exist.
Apartheid will never be a solution or pathway towards resolving generational trauma, atrocities and oppression for Palestinians.
The possibility of mutual interdependence and liberation for both Palestinians and Jews alike, therefore, hinges on ending the occupation. It’s the only pathway forward, including continuing massive pressure on the US government to stop funding it.
Your RoadMap team will continue to be at the ready to support our movement leaders and organizations whose voices, bodies, and lives are literally on the front lines relentlessly working for an end to this genocide. It should also come as no surprise to you if you find RoadMap staff, board, and consultants shoulder to shoulder with you at the next protest. Our community of practitioners are also organizers who provide capacity building to the movements we love and fight for. We will see you in the streets fighting for liberation and justice for Palestine.
