Elisabeth E. Garrett: Consultant and Coach

Elisabeth E Garrett (Lisa) is a leadership consultant and coach with 15+ years of experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. Lisa started gMoxie consulting and coaching to strengthen the way individuals and organizations relate to their power; and by doing so, better understand the impact of their power in creating lasting change.

Prior to launching gMoxie, Lisa worked on many successful collaborations locally and internationally, grew with many community based and youth serving organizations, and served as a both grant writer and grant maker, a program manager and an executive director, and as a trainer and board member. Based on her long track record of working within diverse communities, Lisa was selected to participate in a Coaching and Philanthropy pilot project focused on engaging the coaching sector in issues of diversity and cultural competency. Lisa is a faculty member at the Institute for Life Coach Training where she co-designed and instructs the Coaching for Social Action Course.

Lisa partners with the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families as their Capacity Building Specialist – providing technical assistance and training to NYC based nonprofits through a federally funded re-granting program. She works with national multi-stakeholder collaboratives including the Alliance for Educational Justice and the Dignity in Schools Campaign, and was also a facilitator and coach for the National gathering, Women Rule!, a partner initiative with The White House Project and O, Oprah’s Magazine (November 2008 issue). Lisa received her BA in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and was invited to participate in the national Somatics and Social Justice Collaborative to explore how combining both somatics and social justice leads to transformative change for individuals, organizations and communities.

Drawing from her experience as an accomplished martial artist and certified fearlessYOGA instructor, Lisa works with various practices to bring awareness to how we truly “embody” our commitment to change. As part of her vision to cultivate healthy and sustainable leaders and organizations, she also offers yoga by request at retreats nationally and at thirdroot community health center in Brooklyn, New York.
